(Centreville, MD) Maryland State Police are on the scene of an early morning crash involving a bus carrying 35 passengers, which sent one adult to Shock Trauma and several children and adults to area hospitals.

A total of seventeen adults and children were transported to area hospitals. One adult female was flown by state police medevac to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. The remaining sixteen, including the driver of the SUV, were transported by ambulance to area hospitals: seven people were transported to Chester River Hospital in Kent County; four people were taken to Queen Anne’s Emergency Center in Grasonville; three were transported to Easton Hospital and two people were taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center.
The driver of the SUV is identified as Carl Trenz, Jr., 49, of the 100 block of Big Holly Court, in Stevensville, Maryland. Trenz was transported from the scene with non life threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation indicates shortly before 9:00 a.m. this morning, a Volkswagen SUV, attempting to make a left hand turn on to southbound Route 213, turned into the path of an oncoming charter bus. The bus, traveling southbound on Rt. 213, swerved to avoid the crash, hit a utility pole and landed on its passenger side.
State Highway Administration is on the scene assisting with detours for the motoring public. At this time, the Route 213 remains closed as the investigation continues.
